Significance of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers
If it weren't for the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, human civilization would have almost certainly not gotten this far. The name, "Mesopotamia", is Greek for "Land Between Rivers". The naming of the province clearly states that the rivers were significant. They were the initial source of farming, because the rivers irrigated the land around it. Not only that, but it was used for fishing, drinking water, and transportation. The rivers gave a reason for the people to settle, and it arguably taught them how to survive in the world as humans. Settling, allowed people to build establishments, start religion, government, and many other aspects of everyday human life.
